From Van to Fiber Blowing in Minutes

Out in the countryside of southern Sweden, experienced fiber installer Peter Nordlund is preparing for another day of fiber installation. The job involves installing two sections of fiber in different directions along the network – the kind of work where reliable equipment and a straightforward setup make a real difference.
For the job, Peter brings a cable drum with 6.0 mm 96-fiber micro cable from Lightera, a Jetting V2 Fiber Blowing Machine and the necessary accessories.
Everything needed for the installation fits easily into the vehicle. With lightweight, portable equipment that is easy to carry and quick to set up, the complete Jetting setup can be moved effortlessly from the vehicle to the worksite – and on to the next installation.
Two People. One Complete Fiber Installation.
One of the biggest advantages of fiber blowing becomes obvious when you look at the crew: there are only two people on site.
For the first installation, Peter’s colleague takes position at the receiving manhole while Peter prepares the V2 at the starting point. Peter operates the machine while his colleague receives the cable at the other end. It’s a simple setup that allows a small crew to handle the complete installation efficiently.
Compared with traditional cable installation methods, fiber blowing can significantly reduce the manpower required for the job. For contractors, that makes a real difference. A smaller crew means more efficient installations, lower labor costs and more jobs completed with the same resources – saving both time and money.
A Quick and Simple Setup
At the starting point, the equipment is unloaded and Peter sets up the V2, work table and cable drum. The lightweight equipment makes it easy to move everything into position, even when the installation point is some distance from the vehicle. Getting ready to blow fiber takes only a few minutes.
As part of the setup, Peter connects the JetLogger, an optional accessory that records important data throughout the installation, including installed distance, speed, duct temperature and other installation parameters. With the equipment in place and the compressor connected, there is just one thing left to do before the cable installation begins – prepare the duct.
Preparing the Duct
A good installation starts with making sure the duct is ready.
Peter inserts a Cleaning Plug and adds Jetting Duct Lube before using compressed air to push the plug through the duct. This cleans and lubricates the route while also confirming that the duct is clear and ready for installation.
The person at the receiving end must always keep a safe distance from the duct outlet, as the Cleaning Plug can exit at high speed. Once the plug reaches the other end, it’s time to install the cable.
Ready to Blow Fiber
With the duct prepared, Peter loads the 6.0 mm micro cable into the V2 and starts the first installation. The first 50–100 meters are fed into the duct without compressed air. As the distance increases, air is added to help the cable travel smoothly through the duct, while the V2 continues to push it forward. From there, the process is fast and straightforward. The cable moves through the duct towards the receiving manhole, while the JetLogger records installation data along the way.
Two Installations. One Compact Setup.
The first installation covers an impressive 1,270 meters. Once the cable reaches the receiving manhole, the first section is complete and the JetLogger provides recorded data from the installation.
But the job isn’t finished yet. Peter and his colleague move on and repeat the process in the other direction, this time installing another 280 meters of fiber cable. Same two-person crew. Same compact V2 setup. Another section completed.
